FAQs
WHAT IS THE INTEGRATIVE MANUAL THERAPY (IMT)?
IMT is an innovative method of osteopathic and bioenergetic manual therapy that was developed in the U.S. It is based on the application of very gentle hands-on pressures and movements to regulate and normalize tension patterns in the fascia muscles, bones, nerves and viscera.
WHY TRY INTEGRATIVE MANUAL THERAPY (IMT)?
Realistically, maintaining a balanced life is a challenge for everyone. Whether you have stress, chronic aches and pains, or are interested in maintaining preventive well-being, IMT is a gentle form of body work that will address your specific needs. A clinical session is both a therapeutic and deeply relaxing experience. After treatment, you will notice a decrease in pain and stiffness, improvement in your flexibility and sleep quality, more ease in your day-to- day activities, and a general balance in your body. We all have the inherent wisdom to achieve true health, but sometimes, the body just needs a little reminder and guidance to fulfill its true healing potential.
HOW ARE MY TREATMENTS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS?
I am the pioneer and the only therapist in Spain trained and specialized in IMT. First-time clients are usually fascinated when they realize that a physiotherapy/osteopathy session doesn't have to hurt! All the techniques I perform are applied with a very precise and smooth pressure of about 5-10 grams — the weight of a two-euro coin. Unlike other approaches, my treatments focus on treating not only the area where it hurts, but the areas and tissues that are causing pain and dysfunction.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM MY TREATMENTS?
I treat clients of every size and shape, from infants and children to athletes and the elderly. Everyone will benefit from treatment, although some notice an improvement more than others. As my treatments serve to restore the general well-being of the organism, it is an excellent prevention for chronic pain conditions, inflammatory processes, immune system disorders and, of course, for the treatment of injuries, even those that occurred a long time ago that may still be affecting you.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON THE FIRST VISIT?
Before coming to the first visit, to save time, I recommend that you download and complete the forms in the "client" section and bring them with you to the first appointment. We will review the questionnaire and your medical history at the first appointment. I will then make an assessment of the whole body to find and identify all areas that have tension or restricted tissues. An assessment of posture, gait, balance, range of motion and strength will also be carried out, as needed.
The rest of the session is dedicated to the treatment (manual therapy, acupuncture, etc.) that will be personalized to your condition and your needs. Postural re-education, stress management strategies and lifestyle and diet recommendations are issues that could also be addressed during treatment. You will be provided with an exercise program (physical and/or energetic) to do at home that will complement the treatment.
HOW WILL I FEEL DURING A SESSION?
Most people are surprised at how relaxing and restorative this therapy is and sometimes they even fall asleep during the session. Some people may feel a decrease in pain and stiffness, others may feel less stress and anxiety, while others will notice that they are more upright or breathing more deeply.
Due to the subtle nature of this work, sometimes the benefits are not immediately noticeable, but they will be obvious when you return to your normal activities. After treatment, you may experience slight pain from the release of an injured/inflamed tissue, but you will soon notice that you feel relief.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This depends on your medical history, the nature and recurrence of your symptoms, your goals, and how your body reacts to the treatment. As a general rule, between 3-10 sessions are usually sufficient to achieve positive changes, although some cases respond in only one session! Once you are satisfied with the results and have reached your treatment goals, a periodic review is recommended to maintain optimal well-being.
HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
The sessions last about 55 minutes. It is recommended that new clients schedule a first visit of 90-120 minutes so that there is sufficient time for extensive evaluation and treatment. Many clients, especially those who live far away or have a chronic or sever illness/injury, choose to schedule intensive sessions of up to 2-3 hours.
IS A MEDICAL REFERRAL REQUIRED TO RECEIVE TREATMENT?
You do not need to have a referral from your doctor to receive treatment. However, your insurance company may require one if you request reimbursement.

HOW MUCH DOES A TREATMENT SESSION COST?
The fees are 110 euros/hour. Sliding scales on a case-by-case basis.
IS HEALTH INSURANCE ACCEPTED?
The payment of services is not covered by insurance and must be paid at the time of your visit. The exception would be those clients whose insurance companies provide me a pre-payment guarantee. If you have a reimbursement plan, I can provide you with an invoice and any necessary reports, so that you may attach them to your insurance claim.
